Fall at work

Hi guys I went into work as usual on Sunday but just after I had signed in, I was walking thru the back of house area to the inner security door and suddenly slipped on what appeared to be nothing and fell down, I seemed to twist sideways as I hit the floor and landed on my right arm more than anything. I reported it immediately, noone else saw me fall, my details and the details of my fall were put into the system on the computer in the office. I have not had any pain really since, except in my neck, noone from work has asked how I am, I have had accidents at work before, like my 3 broken toes 15 months ago, am I too soft not persuing a claim? the girls at work are saying I should see a solicitor incase i have problems with my back later.

A solicitor will do one of two things. One, either sue the firm for damages or compensation, or two, which seems the more likely given what you have said, say they can do nothing because there was no actual fault on their part.

You've reported and recorded it, and as such anything that crops up later as a result could be legally attributed to that event. By that I mean if you have problems and you think they are because of this fall, have time off or have to see a doctor etc, then they'll find it harder to discipline or dismiss BECAUSE it was recorded. Of course, the problem here is proving a connection if it came to it. Personally, i'd just accept it was your own fault and see a doctor if I needed to,

I am not actually employed by that company as i am a shop within a shop, and it can't be my fault as nothing was different to every other day except that the cleaning contractors had used an electric polisher the day before. i didn't just fall, i slipped on a slippy floor, but you are right, i will wait and see what happens

a solicitor will be able to judge whether a claim is likely to be successful although there is always some margin of error and the case law on negligence is constantly evolving.
