Walking distance?

Last night, my friend & I walked at a steady pace without stopping, for 1 hour 45 mins. How many miles do you think we walked, please?

If you're walking at a steady pace you area usually going 4 miles an hour, so I should think you walked 7 miles! Well done.

...but did you meet a train which had left ten minutes later, going in the opposite direction at any point? You may be able to help loads of kids with their homework here.

I concur...average walking speed is indeed 4mph so roughly 7 miles....unless it was two women walking past shops in which case you'll only have covered about 400 yards.

Jesus 7 miles! No wonder my hips have been hurting today then! Yes, we are two woman who left the husbands behind! Fortunately, the shops were closed, that's the only reason we didn't stop on the way!

Amazing how time and distance fly by when two women are talking.How is it a woman can speak to her friend on the phone for 75 minutes,when they met up the day before?

We always find plenty to talk about, believe me! But that's what good friends are all about I suppose!

I reckon average walking speed is more like 3 mph than 4 mph - so about 5 and a quarter ish. So between 5 and 7, depending on speed.
