there are ways you can help yourself,

make sure your bedroom is not too hot, turn the heating down or off, if neccasary, use a fan, wear cotton nightwear, such as shotr pjs with short sleeves, us a sheet and a thin blanket as opposed to duvet, which makes you sweat more.

if non of this helps and the problem gets worse, i advice you see your doctor.
My advice is- save your money! I'm sure you'll receive many replies recommending sage, red clover, black cohosh, agnes castus, phytoestrogens etc. In my experience they don't help in the slightest. Good luck!

seen the doctor , could go back on the h.r.t but there are serious health risks attached the doctor says thi sweating could last from 3 -- 7 yrs oh no ! ! !
Hawke- I've had my flushes for 14 yrs! Apart from the 4 years when I was on HRT. But all HRT does is postpone the inevitable.Lots of my friends think it "sees you through" the worst parts of menopause, when in actual fact it's like pressing a "pause" button. As soon as you stop taking HRT the symptoms return with a vengeance. So as I didn't fancy flushing in my 70s, I came off it after the recent findings of a couple of years ago when it was decided it's not as safe as first thought.
I must admit the frequency and severity of the flushes have decreased over time, and I cope by dressing in thin layers that can be easily removed when necessary! I haven't needed a winter coat for years now!

I will never have to go through this apparently, due to a TCRE I had about 15 years ago, it was a new procedure and the expectations are that the change will not happen!!! I highly recommend it!
Well... I swear by Evening Primrose. I took it through my last 2 years of troublesome periods then through the 'change '. In fact, as recomended by my doctor, I still take at age 60 for my joints. Who knows whether it works or not but I'm sure it helps me.
I'm pretty sure my mum takes that evening primrose stuff too. I would recomend good deoderant and opening a window when you get too hot. Drinking more fluids will probably help too...
What's TCRE Dot? My mum's still having menopausal symptoms, so she says. She doesn't seem to have hot sweats or anything, but goes light-headed now and again, and just gets a warm flush with it.
have just come out the other side of all this and almost feel back to normal, so what i would say is that for most people it is just a matter of living through it. i have been taking a menopause product from 'boots' for about 3 years now and really find that helps a lot, particularly with the hot flushes and night sweats. i think when they're at their worst nothing but hrt really works, but these 'menopause' things contain lots of stuff (including evening primrose, borage, flax, magnesium, calcium) which help with many of the menopause symptoms, and in my opinion are definitely worth a go. you do need to take them for at least 3 months though, don't give up after a few days. also, find a forum all about menopause and you'll be able to read about all sorts of women's stories and solutions, and ask your own questions too. just sharing your story with a bunch of other ladies going throught the same thing is, i found, a great help.
I found Wild Yam Root really helped with the menopause,especially hot flushes.You can get them in Holland & Barrett
