Get some zovirex. (I think thats what is called)
anything with acyclovir in it, boots does an own brand one which is good, or if you want to go natural melissa extract is pretty good.
I have suffered with cold sores from time to time, it's usually if I'm a bit run down & always just before an event of some kind - very frustrating! Alhough I've used Zovorax, have a chat with your pharmacist, he may have a better solution. Enjoy the party!
Paper bag over head always helps.... sorry that isn't very nice is it?! Try aftershave. That always stings like hell. Pick the scabs off and apply aftershave every hour on the hour. The nasty scars you are left with can be covered over with concealer. Simple. DON'T ACTUALLY TRY THIS! I'm joking! (Although the aftershave on a coldsore does sting!)
I use Zovirax as well. It's very good. It's probably too late now but it works best if you can start the treatment before the cold sore starts to swell up, when it's at the 'tingling' stage.

It is more or less at the tingling stage, but do you think this will prevent it coming up at all? Or will I have to turn this party into a masked ball?
I've also used Zovirax (correct spelling this time) when at the tingling stage, but I'm afraid it still went on to a full blown cold sore! As I say, maybe best to ask a phamacist or see your doc. I bet it won't look half as bad as you imagine, so go to the party & have a good time.
Coldsores are the worst thing in the world. try using lots of conclearor talc. Talc tends to dry them out a bit and also can be used to hide them. Alternatively beat yourself around the face bit and tell people that you got in fight...actuallymaybe don't.
Put some ice in a flannel or bag and hold it on it for as much time as possible. Obviously you have to replace the ice as it melts but this does work :) Breaking one of those yellow vitamin E capsules and putting the gloop inside on it can get rid of them too. Good luck!
I know it sounds disgusting but I have read that if you're at a push you can use earwax. It supposedly contains a substance that fights infection! I haven't tried it tho'
