I guess it si from old days (IE.Caveman Days) when we perspire, we need to soak up sweat. We mainly sweat from the armpits, head and foreheadm and the groin, therefore, we have hair in the head, and eyebrows, to prevent sweat dripping into our eyes, and in our pits, and in our groin for similar reasons. I also heard that in those naked roaming days we needed pubic hair to protect dust and stuff from getting in out nether regions. basically, as far as i see it, we dont need any hair on our bodies, cos we have adapted to modern times. Evolition will probably get rid of body hair. All this is not scientifical knowledge, but my reasoning. (And im a bit ******).

Sorry Quizmonster - can't see your link due to the 'helpful' securefilter at work, so I don't know if this one is listed. I think I remember this question being posted before and the general concensus was that pubic hair was to catch pheromones and scents to attract a potential mate.

Just for you then, Rinky, my link refers to a publication of the Smithsonian Institution - America's National Museum of Natural History - which suggests that such hair provided something for young babies to cling to, as young monkeys still do. (Sounds darn painful, I know...rather like being 'picked up by the fuzz', as they say!)

Another idea given there is the one you list yourself - the need to retain glandular secretions which act as aphrodisiacs.

Thirdly, there is even a vague hint that it might 'cushion' the area during intercourse.
