Dreading work tomorrow
12 Answers
Evening all!! My supervisor (not my boss) at work has a tendency to text me if she is off sick or late (which is quite often!!!!) So when I came down with food poisoning Friday evening I presumed I would be okay to send a text Sunday afternoon explaining I was unwell and unable to come to work on Monday (today)! Firstly I felt uncomfortable talking on the phone as i was really ill and secondly I thought it a little inappropriate to phone her on a Sunday afternoon. All fit and well now to go back to work tomorrow however just received a text off her saying Ensure you phone me in the morning if you are off again, do NOT just send a text!!! Im dreading going in tomorrow now, i feel nervous and can feel a confrontation coming on (which i hate) she is very rude towards me as it is and feel this has just give her more reason to have a go! How can I explain that I thought it would be okay to send a message, especially since she sends them me often on a daily basis, I just presumed it would be okay!!!!!

As a supervisor the policy in our departmnt is staff phone us directly to advise of illness as opposed to txt which I fully support. Sorry to hear you were unwell ray but perhaps you could have phoned this morning to advise your supervisor as opposed to contacting her on a sunday. In saying that i reckon you will be fine all they will do will be to advise you of policy on sick leave in the future good luck
Great advice! Many thanks...thinking over i do actually think its very unprofessional to send a message explaining i was ill, but didnt think much of it at the time, ss long as she was aware that i would not be in! She will undoubtedly confront me about this as she is a very argumentative person (not just with me) so a little nervous as expected...good advice though 'smile sweetly and say sorry' Thanks Sara3 :-)
