Carpal tunnel syndrome

This has been a bother for about 3 months in the Rt hand and sometimes the L.
Some feedback on the results of surgery would be appreciated as although I know others who suffer, only one has had surgery, (in both wrists) and it was entire successful.

this may not be a huge help, but my boss had this op on Thursday morning. he went in at 8am and was home by 10.30am!

last night he said he wasn't in pain and was already able to move his hand a bit, although he is supposed to be off work for 6 weeks. he had the other hand done a few years ago and was very happy with the results.

Me too - I had one hand operated on in 1985 and the other hand injected with cortisone at the same time. The one with cortisone did not work so they operated on that one as well - am pleased to report that both hands are still fine all these years on. At that time I had a general anaesthetic but had I known it was so simple I'd just have had a local and been in and out of hospital the same day. Good luck with whatever you decide and the relief is almost instant!

Mr Spudqueen wears one of those wrist support things. He's also careful how he sleeps now as sleeping on the wrist can bring it on/ aggravate it.

I use a wrist support at night as it keeps the wrist in a position that should mean no pain. And by and large, it's quite good at that, but manual work brings on the discomfort. That's why I want the op..
