I am thinking of buying a mattress topper as our bed is getting very uncomfortable - we rent. I dont really want to buy a new bed or mattress, as there is no where to put the one that belongs to the house. Do these memory foam toppers make any difference? I always wake up achey and have a sore back, bu I dont want to waste 40+ on something I have never tried before. So have you got one and is it any good? Thanks

ive got the actual mattress, and believe me its the best sleep ive ever had,so im going to assume that the mattress has similiar benefits, but go and try one out at the bed store just to make sure its deep enough to have an impact on your back problems!
I bought a goose feather and down topper - king size 48.00 + 4.21 p&p from www.dapw.co.uk recently
My son & wife have slept on it over xmas , they said it is v. good
We bought it to cover a hard mattress
Sale on at moment so may be cheaper
I wish you a softer new year
or failing that, i know its not the same, but, if youre thinking about getting a new duvet any time soon, why not put your old one ontop of your mattress, under a fitted sheet?
ive done that before, it feels lovely and warm and verrry snug and cosy.
:o) zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I bought a memory foam topper when I came out of hospital after suffering from spinal cancer, the nurse told me it would be very helpful for my condition but I found it was very uncomfortable and I kept sinking in one position and found it difficult and painful to move out of it, to me it was a complete waste of money (90) Anyway I decided to get a thick feather topper for half the price and it's so comfortable, money well spent.
We also have a Genuine Tempur matress and it is great, I used to wake up with every joint aching. I honestly don't know about the toppers, but would suggest you get one with a good depth and preferably a Tempur.
Gelda , that's what I have thought about , I'm against the memory one for myself because I think if I get stuck in one place I'm just that ...stuck
I had the same problem with he air bed I had in hospital, they were supposed to be good but I got stuck in that too, maybe it's just me but I find the feather topper much more comfortable.
Oh those huge air beds gelda , lol , I kept being rocked between grooves when it changed positions , it felt so strange . Mind you , I did sort of miss it when I got back home .
I used to wake up every morning with backache until i bought my topper.Mine is one and a half ins deep.I find its not deep enough to sink into but deep enough to do the job.
I've got a topper and love it. Like Hau Kola, it's not that deep so no getting stuck :)
We to have the genuine tempur mattress and its the best thing i have ever bought, my friend however bought a topper and is very dissapointed with it, says it makes little difference.I would imagine the effectivness of the topper directly relates the how bad the matteress is that your putting it on to, hence the varying replys, the topper can only do so much to improve the quality of what its put on top of, but if its not too expensive its probably worth a try, cheaper than new materess :-)
