Welcome to this very first week of a very New Year and a very new setter in the form of Queen Meg ~ or as we all know her, miss meg. She really goes by the name of Wendy (as in Peter Pan) and did not entertain my suggestion of being called Mystic Meg!
Although Queen Meg claims not to be particularly skilled on the subject of IT, I have complete faith in her ability to successfully launch MM Links on Saturday morning. You ought to realise that I am composing this message in advance on Wednesday evening and it may be the alcohol talking! Whatever happens over the next few days, I shall try to follow the scheduled postings for the Links Games ~ but there are no guarantees!
As far as you are concerned, it should be business as usual; the posting should open at 8.45am and the four words to be linked should be declared at 9.00am for a brand new game. Of course, it will also be a brand new start for the international version of this same game which is called KM Links and kicks off at an earlier time. As far as I am aware, the regular organiser from Oz, seekeerz, is back from her gonesailing adventures and will be in business to organise results for KM Links. Why not chance your arm at both Link Games? They remain open for most of the weekend and all entries are scored and entered on to master scoreboards.
This is me again live as it were and I have survived the Festive Season once again without a hangover! It takes many years of dedicated practice to reach that presence of mind!
I DO hope YOU are in a fit state tomorrow to face the new challenge of 2009.
Once again, I wish you a Happy New Year and Happy Linking!
But thank you, crofter for your felicitations and your solicitousness but down here is coldest Hampshire the festivities have yet to end. Tonight am off to yet another "gathering", I will soon be winning, with my liver, the foie plus gras of the new year!
I will leave the "Shrubbery" to do their worst in my absence....
AND, good luck, Queen Meg, with your launching tomorrow morning.
Thanks crofter ... I certainly agree about the many years of practice, enabling survival without the dreaded symptoms of the hangover, after long days (and nights) partaking of the necessary snifter or three!!
I can still remember (just) the painful experiences of my foolish youth at this time of the year!! Happy Days???
Whilst I'm here, a message from Pauline ~ she won't be able to visit shrubbery until much later (if still sober!!) ... as it's Reg's birthday and apparently there will be Party Games etc!! :O)
Jan, thank you for the ever wonderful ABBA (I am surrounded by women and am trying to work out how many times I have managed to avoid seeing the DVD of Mamma Mia [have seen it once!] in the last ten days) but here is a less salubrious celebration of the New Year from a few years ago:
Thanks crofter for opening up the shrubbery.
Good evening strix, jan and sarumite....happy new year to you all.
Sadly my Christmas and New Year was curtailed slightly with a dose of the flu, from which I am slowly recovering.
Lemsip and brandy do not really go together.
Hi everyone, have survived bleak Brixham!!! Boxing Day until 30th (it was sooo cold) and was completely sober on New Years Eve. I have taken my decorations down today and I am looking forward to a warmer, happier and more prosperous new year, hope everyone on AB has the same.
Why does it take so long to put the decorations away and get the house back to normal????
Just popped in to say I'm very apprehensive about my posting tomorrow. I shall probably make a complete hash of it and have a lynch mob after me by 9.15.
Happy New Year to all, hope you had a good day Kay. Decorations are due down on Jan 6th aren't they, I always miss them and hate taking them down?!!
I'm with you Jan, lets gate crash Reg's birthday party!
Hi miss meg ... don't you worry about a thing, I'm sure it will be plain sailing for you! .... And after all it's only a game, so nobody's going to string you up!! Honestly!! :O)
Happy New Year to you all...Miss Meg don't worry if you are late with your posting, although I'm sure you won't be, 9.15 in the evening will suit me fine!!!!
Don't worry Miss Meg, Crofter will guide you through and be on call if you get stuck. If I can do it ( a long time ago!!!) anyone can!!!! and really it doesn't matter if it's a bit late does it??? It's only for fun.
Hi Laney, am feeling quite a bit better.I don't usually take my decs. down early but didn't have much else to do today so thought I would.
Have had a new mobile phone today (dropped my previous one down the toilet!!) and I have been trying for last hour to find out how to put new numbers in!!!!! The book with it is total rubbish.....don't think it is for this phone!!!!! Looks like a trip back to the Orange shop tomorrow!!!!
Good evening all - gosh, it's quiet on here tonight, where is pauline for starters ??
yes, I have safely returned from my 'sailing' expedition and happy to be back with old faithful here, instead of a very capricious laptop.
even managed to avoid the dreaded hangover this year - oooh, the spinning room sensation - who put the door on the ceiling ???? perhaps I'm gaining some sense in my old age - fat chance !!!
will see you all at a more civilised hour later today/tomorrow and go back to battling my local quiz S :)
