Knees
6 Answers
A few weeks ago my bf smashed his knees at work at the end of the day, thought a weekend's rest would 'fix' them but it didn't, on Tuesday he went to the doctor as he could put no weight on his knees (i.e.standing!) was signed off for a week and told to take painkillers. He went back to work today but his knees gave way again and cannot stand again so was taken to hospital, the nurse felt his feet told him there were no broken bones and seemed no tendon damage so wouldn't need an xray and was sent home again and told to take painkillers again. There is (and has never been) any bumps, bruising, swelling, etc so I'm guessing it could be under the kneecap? Help!!

Tell him to go straight back to A&E and not leave until he has been examined properly.
Why on earth they would check his feet when it is his knee that is the problem goodness only knows!!! SOunds like a fob-off to me and one that could cost him dearly if not seen to professionally.
hugs. xxx
Wow Dr Mrs Cheeks, I looked up "Knee Cartilage" on t'internet and it gave a full description of what he seems to be suffering with (mostly the fact that he can walk up stairs but not down - like a cow apparently, but I digress) so I am forcing back down hospital in the morning and not moving til he examined properly.
And I wondered about the feet thing too - I wasn;t sure if maybe a medical prof might have been on here to explain why they'd check his feet if he has busted knees?
Thanks a bunch XX
My sympathies to your boyfriend. I injured my knees once when I sledged down a slope (on my knees) and smashed them directly into a low concrete edging. I don't think I've ever been in so much agony and the knees still feel different to eachother and that was 8 years ago. My doctor was very unsympathetic and told me to lose weight - yeah, that will help the pain! I'd agree with the others and get him back to the hospital and insist they look properly.
