Superman & Green Cross Code Man?

Prompted by the truly sad passing of actor Christopher Reeve, a friend and I have been discussing his past roles. My friend has got it into his head that Christopher Reeve was once the Green Cross Coded Man. I, on the other hand KNOW that it was David Prowse (aka Darth Vader) who taught us how to cross roads safely. Could someone please settle this by confirming Mr. Prowse's role as the teacher of safe pedestrian conduct, so I can revel in the fact my friend knows diddly squat? Ta muchly.

Definitely not Christopher Reeve...ever! but Alvin Stardust did memorably take on the role in the mid-70's!

I don't have a clue what you're on about, but I'm going to agree anyway! And yes, it's devastating that he's gone. He struggled so hard, only to be killed by a heart attack in the end.

Thank you all for your responses. Especially you georgit79, even though you never had the GCCM to show you the dangers of poor road safety, you posted an answer taht supported MY side of the argument anyway (I take it you learned to cross the road by watching those animated hedgehogs on TV). Anyway, I salute you. Now I must flick my friend's ear and tell him how little he knows. On a serious note, Superman was the first film I ever saw at the cinema, and I've loved film ever since. I have Mr. Reeve to thank for that.

The Green Cross Code public information films are on the "Charley Says..." DVD, so you can show your friend that it was Dave Prowse ( who is dubbed in the first two, but uses his own voice in the third ).

your friend is wrong but is kinda on the right lines! i believe,dave prowse almost became superman but ended up just being christopher reeve's personal trainer for the role !

David prowse was the green cross code man. however he did train christopher reeve so that he could fill those wonderful blue tights for superman.A role prowse auditioned for.
