Do you remember the first time???

Smokers or non smokers, can you remember the first time you tried a cigarette? whet made you do it? Was it peer pressure? Were you just curious?
I remember lots of times saying silly things to mates when they offered me a fag, like 'Oh no I used to but I have bad asthma' or 'oh no I cant smoke Marlboro I have a reaction' and I didn't even smoke back then I was about 13 and embarrassed to say I didn't smoke!!
I remember when I was about 15 I bought some fags of the school 'dealer' and went up the park and smoked one all alone just incase I choked. The stupid things we do when we are young.

Its your resident smoker here folks...lol....i guess i started maybe about 10 or 11....ok only about 1 or two a day, stolen from my mum or dad's ciggie packet. Dont know why i started but got to like it. I could buy single ciggies in the shop, who also used to give u a bit of a match box and a match to light it!! Been smoking ever since....started on regal red, and on to benson and hedges, regal blue and now on silk cut purple. Ive been thinking of giving them up as they are so expensive and also for health reasons but know i couldnt go cold turkey. Am gonna look into acupuncture or hypnosis to see if it could help with the cravings.
I'm sorry i ever started...it was never down to peer pressure, just something in me to try something different, to take a risk, to appear grown up. :-O

Never tried it, despite plenty of peer pressure, I just couldn't get past the disgusting nature of the whole thing, not to mention the illogic of filtering 500+ carcinogens through my lungs. I also used to look at the number of times my mum tried to give up and figured that it was a life sentence with a daily fine of, today, at least 5. My mum still smokes, she never cracked it! I can just see my dad shouting at her after a couple of days of trying, "For f**k sake have a fag". He cracked it though oddly enough!
