I had my daughter after my abortion...but that did not change my mind about a womans right do do what is correct for HER.....if there was no legal abortion...women would go back to doing what they did 40 years ago.......coathangers and chemicals. At least we have the choice.
Hi puddy, right or wrong i can understand how you feel, try to put it behind you and when you have your own grand child on your knee, you will forget about the past.
I agree with you Velvetee.
Tisha - you just asked the same question as I did, that's all.
You asked if it was a religious thing? I did as well, but thought perhaps not.
during a debate i stood up and challenge a girl who said it was murder and asked could she call me a murderer to my face...a long and heated discussion continued. at the end she apologised for her statements about me and i told her i'd never had an abortion by maybe someone in the room had!

6 month later the same girl sought me out as a shoulder to cry on when she found herself pg and not equipped for parent hood. she wanted an abortion. i tried to persuade her against it....but when she had made her mind up i supported her and went with her.

ultimately only one person has the say and that needs to be discussed at length before deciding. it will be the most traumatic decision an woman takes where to keep and unplanned baby or not! and they should not be judged for that difficult decision.
I agree Velvetee, that a few women take it very lightly and see it as a form of contraception. I can only feel sorry for them, not because they are aborting, but because they just don't know what having children really means. I haven't had any, but I do want them, when I'm ready to give them everything they deserve, not because I feel obliged to have them even if they're the result of a broken condom in a youth hostel.
Btw, I agree with the late termination thing. Awful, unless medically advised.
sorry ice

couple of glasses of cava catching up with me now....might join puddi for a sleep :)
As Velvetee's already finding out, having a child DOES change you. It's a wonderful thing for those who want, and get them.
I also have sympathy towards any woman who chooses to go through this awful experience for a valid reason. For those who just abort because it's "not the right time", I have nothing but contempt.
No prob Tisha. Sorry if my reply came over wrongly.
How about it's "not the right time" because you're living in a foreign country with a South African boyfriend who is 4 years younger and planning to start uni 6 month later?
Life isn't all black or white, is it?
Each person has the right to decide if it's right or wrong. Can't comment on individual cases, but for those who fall pregnant - sometimes knowingly running the risk they're taking, and then to bleat that "it'd interfere with....so I'll get rid of it..."
No, sorry.
Hope Ice and Pasta don't fall out over this.
or 'its not the right time' because your husband is near the end of 7 years working on his doctoral thesis, and you have only just gone back to work after a year on benefits because the job market has been crap......and you have only been married for 2 months?
am with ice. i've got a mate in her late 30s that keeps forgetting/is drunk/cant be arsed using a johnny and she moans that all the rest disagree with her. she's never had a scare yet but **** sake she an adult!!! unless she's trying why risk it!

(big love ice, just never sure how am coming across either :))
we are sound velvetee...
I guess so many people take the risks, because they don't think it will happen to them. I've also taken those risks and was always lucky it didn't happen and with the wrong person.

I can't say, back then I wouldn't have had an abortion, if I'd fallen pregnant from a useless, uncommitted man, where I knew I'd have to raise the child alone. However, it wouldn't really be my first choice.
No way will I fall out with pasta. She's too nice a person. We've just agreed about something privately - and had a laugh - but it's just my own opinion that sometimes, folk make rubbish excuses to get rid of their "mistake." I was no way implying that anyone here fell into that category - but it happens. People don't have to be rich to make good parents, and many of us wouldn't be here today if our parents and grandparents'd made that decision. As I've already said, there are many reasons why some women choose this option. Som,e agree with it, others don't.
can we safely say puddi is now soundly asleep?
Reckon so, Tisha! x
cool

where's the snow then (lol)
pasta, you and i don't often seen eye to eye on things, but your answer about having an abortion because it was not the right time made me realize how hard it must be for a woman to make a decision like that, i really feel for you, and admire your guts for admitting it it on AB,
