Hi, I just did a pregnancy test and it came out positive. How reliable are these tests? Has anyone had a wrong result before? I cant afford to buy anymore until Friday, is it unreasonable to go to the docs and ask them after only taking one test??

NONSENSE...see posts by 4getmenot.

False +s
1)Improper testing
2)Evaporation lines indistinct
3)Drugs. e.g phenothiazines, hCG treatment
4)Certain medical conditions
5)Defective kits.

It was negative at the docs, he said his test might not be so sensitive and to take another in a week or so.
sazzy....quite right.
I have had a few false positives before so its definatly possible!
I used First Response, but if you google them, they dont have a good write up. I agree!
My Doctor freaked out as he had fitted the coil!!!! Lol

Used a different brand today and got a definite negative. This is so bloody confusing!
@ a-hen - it might be an idea to be careful and think before putting that kind of thing - sazzy may well decide 'otherwise' if she is indeed pregnant! and that is her choice.
@ sazzy - hope things work out for you xx
i looked into this and realised that although u critisize my response i am half right, if she is on hcg or has any health problems which is possible, the only way she could of had a false posotive is if the test was defective OR if she read the test after the 10 minute window home pregnancy tests come with. read the label.

false positives VERY RARELY occur and lies either on medication or the test itself.

u want a proper result get these AimStrip pregnancy test strips have a very good reputation of NOT leaving evaporation lines and are much less expensive than brands you can buy in your local supermarket or drug store.
