Positive Pregnancy Test
28 Answers
Hi, I just did a pregnancy test and it came out positive. How reliable are these tests? Has anyone had a wrong result before? I cant afford to buy anymore until Friday, is it unreasonable to go to the docs and ask them after only taking one test??

However I could well have got that the wrong way round. Either way, I don't see any problem in making an appt at your GP and telling them you believe you're pregnant and getting them to confirm it.
Do you mean you came off Depo 5 weeks ago, i.e. had your last injection then or it's 5 weeks since it should have worn off (about 17 weeks since your last injection)? If it was the former then I'd be a bit concerned about the effectiveness of the injection - definitely ask your GP to take a test, they won't mind at all. When I was pregnant I knew that I was, despite 2 negative readings before eventually getting a faint positive. I told my GP I'd got a positive and he never offered to confirm, just took my word for it! Not sure about whether you can get a false positive, though.
I'm so confused. I just split with my BF because he has slept with his second cousin and got her pregnant while we were 'on a break'. I'm just not sure I believe it, was definitely positive though. I also have a bit of a weird feeling 'downstairs', not sure what this is. It just seems so soon after injection.
defo go to your GP - that is what they are there for... take the test with you to show them and say you would like them to confirm it for you... they won't mind because if its positive they will need to see you anyway for a check up and start you on a care system - or having an abortion if thats what you are wanting
you can test a false negative result but you cannot get a false posotive result!
you can test positive and then test again a week later and it be negative but you are still posotively Pregnant.
you should start taking Folic Acid, as its good for baby Growth and you can get this prescribed from your GP
it is not unreasonable at all to goto your GP after one test.
Congratulations Your going to be a Mummy!!
Pregnancy test work on the hormone secreted in you urine when you are pregnant you body will only produce this specific hormaone when you are pregnant and at no other time.
