chicken pox? spots but no other symptoms

i was warned last week that chicken pox was doing the rounds at little CRXs nursery.

since then ive been waiting for signs that hes caught it.

this eve, i have found he has a few spots, they look a bit like blisters or insect bites.

everything ive read on CP though sems to suggest that the spots follow a few days of general illness, fever, lethargy, lack of appetite etc.

little CRX has been fine though, all hes got is the spots (about 20 at mo on his body)

could he still have the pox without the other symptoms or am i worrying for nothing?

hes very upset as hes due to go to the dinosaur museum on saturday to meet a group of friends

red....sounds like classical chicken pox............saturday, he could be coveredin spots. I hope I'm wrong.

weve got a whole weekend away planned, hotel, dinosaur museum then a trip to see his nana, ferry booked too.

and no doubt I'll just have him well and the baby CRX will then come down with it

I hope you're right squad. I got it when I was 28! I've never been so ill, & I got spots everywhere.The words dick & spotted spring to mind:-)

i know its pretty nasty in adults and babies (as well as pregnant women) and can cause horrible complications.

i suppose better to have it at 3 than at 30.

i know ive had it but not sure about mr CRX

My girls both had chicken pox when they were a similar age redcrx,neither of them were ill before the spots appeared. Considering we all lived in the same house(obviously) they caught them over a month apart.lol
My younger daughter had far more spots than her sister,she had them in her ears,mouth and scalp as well as on the main parts of her body,we were on holiday at the time they were at their worst....she still had fun though :)

well we have our holidays booked in 7 weeks, i hope that if little one is gonna get it she does before then.

i wont take them anywhere if i know they are contagious, so looks like weekend is cancelled, ah well.

its has an incubation period of up to 3 weeks, perhaps thats why they were so far apart

Definately sounds like chicken pox, my son got it 1st and then about 2 weeks later my daughter got it...the strange thing is ive never had it, and never got it!!! result! Hope he gets better soon, lots of cool baths and think its called piriton medicine (stops the itching)

Yep its definately piriton, just googled it, it worked better than calamine lotion (that didnt seem to do anything)

I had chicken pox when I was 16. I remember the spots seemed to come out of nowhere (I felt a bit cold and a little weak prior to their appearance but nothing I would've payed any attention to normally). I randomly noticed I had a few on my body when undressing to shower, then they just grew over the next few days.

It sounds like your child is going through a similar process - go to a doctor ASAP just to be positive. There is a certain characteristic of the spots that's specific to chicken pox but I can't remember exactly what it is. It might be worth looking that up.

As an aside, my mother's reaction was brilliant.

Me: 'I thought you said I'd allready had it!?!?!'

well its definately the pox, spots all over now and a little boy whos very upset about not going away but isnt unwell.

ive googled pics and the spots are pox so i wont be taking him to GP unless we get any problems with it.

The neighbours have already asked if he can give it to their 2 year old lol

Thanks for the advice on what to give him. Ive sent Mr CRX out for calamine cream (rather than lotion) and we have piriton and calpol etc in house. Ive also been told that bicarbof soda is good to put in his baths so will try that too.

kromovaracun, my mum cant recall whos had what but my nan kept a list of all us grandchildrens bugs etc so we know who had what. My mum does remember me having it though, says she could almost watch the spots appearing on me lol

haha squad. I cant leave him to look after the both of them. But willbring baby CRX along if youre good at changing stinky nappies etc :)

Certainly sounds like it redcrx though not 100% sure without seeing it of-course . It is possible for him to be well otherwise , though you may find he runs a slight fever when the spots have matured and are very itchy .
I hope your household isn't overrun with it honey . My son had it at the age of 7 and I went down with it at the same time :-(
