I'm 16 and have been looking for a job for a while now. I applied to the Hilton hotel and I got the job!!!But it's only temporarily a short contract 26th nov - 8th Jan which means working over christmas. I think I am goin to get 3.65 an hour if I work every friday and saturday night over that period also one day during the week and poissibly sundays. And then I have to work 4 out of the 6 following days: xmas eve xmas day boxing day day after boxing day new years eve and new years day! One of those has to be either xmas day or new years eve!If I do all that on top I will get a 100 bonus!!!Now this sounds very good to me because its a whole loada money! But I'm only 16 and I can't stand spending xmas away from my family and also evry fri and sat night I do have a social life!!!!I'm so confused any suggestions!

Sounds like alot of money, and while you'll miss friday and saturdays over december (the best month of the year for going out), its not forever. You could use the money for a nice holiday or something. And if you work chrstmas day, Im sure your family wont mind holding off all the celebrations until you get back. I'd say go for it
I say don't be mad... you are 16!!! Go out and party!! Have a great Christmas, go out New Years Eve and make the most of it. I am 20 and have just found out I only get Xmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day off work!! I am unbelievably gutted as I have always loved to party all over Christmas. As you get older you will find you have to work when you don't really want to. So have a top Christmas and get a job in the New Year.
work in a hotel is famous for its unsocial hours...so there is nothing new there.... as ur sixteen and have little experience and ur partime u get the the worst jobs...and that is a fact of life.... get over it.... Now from here on ..u have to realize that if u want a job that allows u more freedom u are going to have to increase ur skills ....so I suggest u look for further education opportunities.... regarding the hotel job....every one quits after a few weeks.... If u have to work on xmas day I'm sure ur family will keep ur dinner and u can microwave it later.... welcome to the real world.... Perhaps this blast of reality might spur u onto great things... anyway I'm sure that the staff on duty at the hotel will have a few ideas about how to get thru the holidays.... Dont despair ...this is a resume building opportunity, get to know how the hotel works.... use it to ur advantage....look to the future now it's only just beguuuuuuuuuun!
I agree with sexy!!! Of COURSE they will pay you 100 bonus- nobody in their right minds would do the hours they are suggesting. Xmasses are far more exciting at your age than when you get older, so make the most of them, and have a great time. Don't worry about the money. I can recommend Tescos or Asda though!! They will be looking for seasonal staff, pay well, and will only expect you to work til 4pm on Xmas eve (leaving time to go out!), and you get the main holidays off. And it's a good laugh. I did this when I was a student and it was fun!!
