I had to have 7 in a year and no they do not hurt. Well not any more than a normal injection. Mine were for tennis elbow and the arm did ache for a couple of days after the injection but it wasn't anything too painful.
I had a cortisone injection in my spine...............I won't lie, it was painful (for a very short amount of time).............BUT it is not necessarily the same in every case, and the relief afterwards was a blessing..........:o)

I shall hop, skip and jump to my next one, should it be necessary...........:o)

Thanks Jan, I'll text her now and tell her, she's scared stiff and she's had 3 kids..lol
how can you get arthritis in your thigh? arthritis litereally means inflammation of a joint. She will either be having it in the hip or knee i would guess. Ive had both, and while i screamed a bit, it was more the thought of the needle than the actual experience

Thanks for your honesty monkey, I cant imagine how painfull your injection in the spine was!

Bednobs I meant her hip..duh
After 2 months of not being able to sleep with pain from a shoulder injury after falling awkwardly my GP finally agreed to give me a cortisone injection in my shoulder. It did hurt more than a normal injection but only for about 15 seconds and not enough to make me cry out, the pain relief within 48hrs was wonderful though and I never looked back. Thousands of people have them so they can't be that bad. Tell your friend to give it a go - take a couple of aspirin beforehand.
Well my experience with two shots is that they did relieve the pain in my joint; but I came down with things like cold, bladder infection, sores inside my mouth, etc.

My nurse friend who overheard me said, "didn't you know that those shots compromised your immune system?

I think I would rather put up with the pain in my joints. A heating pad would do just as well.
I had one in my shoulder, they gave me a painkilling injection first. I didn't feel thing as I passed out, (needle phobia) so I can't say..but didn't feel anything afterwards.
i had to have a few injections , will not lie they were the worst thing ever, i had to have op, to sort my problem out , but even after the first injection i returned for more. i just wanted the pain to ease.
