Oh gosh, I dont know how it feels personally to have tonsils out but my flat mate had her's out and she had problems weeks after the op. In fact one night she came up the stairs weak and bleeding from her throat, she then fainted and she had to go to hospital and stay on a ward for 2 days. Don't mean to scare monger but be careful, if it doesn't feel like its healing after you've had it done and if you start to cough up blood - go straight back to the hopsital.

Good luck :)
Oh my goodness, I'm worried now! My son has to have one soon and he is grown up too, I'd heard it was worse when you're older. Hopefully though you will both be OK, think positive!

Yup im 15, i got it 10 times in one year so god knows why they didn't take them out when i was younger!!

Supposedly it is a much riskier operation than it was made out so now they have to make you aware of the risks and it has petrified me!!
Let us know how your son gets on!
Tonsillectomy......not to be recommended as a party piece LOL.
Painfull.
Cancel Sunday...secondary bleeds may occur at that time.

Hints.
1) Eat solid foods as soon after operation even though it hurts
2) Make sure youn take plenty of analgesics after operation.
3) Don't go on Sunday.
4) Pain after operation is now worse then tonsilitis.

Good luck and no, I have not had my tonsils out LOL
sorry

4) should read " NO worse than tonsilitis"
my son had his out when he was 5 years old he had no problems at all .he couldn't go out for 10 days after in case he caught any infections from other people .don't know if its still the same now as that was 12 years ago .good luck
Hi there, I had mine out when I was 16 and I was in agony for a fortnight. The pain got so bad I had to go to a&e to get liquid painkillers. Apart from pain in the throat I had no other problems and would go through it again as aftter you heal, you have a life free from that awful infection. I stayed in hospital overnight and had to eat toast before going home. My advice is cancel the concert (will also lesson the risk of infection which is not good!) and plan a good few days of dvd's, magazines etc, ie, doing nothing!

Good luck.
