Hi all. My son has up until recently been having 2 daytime naps; one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Lately however, if he has a morning nap he is not at all interested in having an afternoon nap. In fact he has bundles of energy. But by bedtime he is cranky because he has been awake too long. Today, instead of giving him a morning nap I gave him a nap after lunch. Again, part way through the morning he was slightly cranky as he would normally have a nap!! I can't win it seems..ha ha.

Is this the transition from 2 naps to 1 or should I still encourage both naps? TIA

I would persevere into getting him onto 1 nap - you may need to bring lunch forward and get his afternoon nap at 12ish - If your are satrting to get him to toddler groups, they are usually mid morning so that the kids can go, have their lunch and then have their nap, so you will find that this fits in better with life in general. either that, or you need to start the evening routine a bit earlier and string it out a bit so that bed time isn't brough forward too much.

All babie/toddlers are different, but I think that my kids were sleeping 11-12 hours at night with a 1-2 hour nap.

Thanks annie. He is not yet in a nursery, but it does makes things a bit easier him having just the 1 nap. I will persevere with the one nap x
hi MB.
baby CRX is a strange one. On the days when my mum has her she takes 2 naps of 1-2 hours, at 11am and 3pm.

when at home she will take 1 nap of between 1 and 2.5hrs at any time from 11-2.

she doesnt seem bothered by this change at all.

Id try for the 1 nap and see how ou get on. Annies suggestion of bathing etc that bit earlier is a really good ne i reckon!

Hi red, hope your well.

I guess she must think she's missing out on things when she's with you.

I always have a nap in the afternoon when my son does. This is the one I will make the most of as I dare say by the time he is 2 he'll be going a full day without naps....scary thought.

Happy Easter to you all x
Hi MB - I didn't mean nursery, I just meant local toddlers groups, do you have anything like that in your area? Very useful for both you and the wee one to socialise and generally free or a nomimal cost to cover tea and juice. My two are well passed that stage now, but it was always a good venue to swap tips with other mums while the kids learned to share!!!! We always went along since they were small babies. Doctors surgery noticeboard is usually a good source of info.
oh how i wish i could nap when she does, but on days shes with me Im working anyway so no chance, must be nice though.
Im hoping that walking will tire her out again, but at the m,oment she just wants to walk and walk holding my hands and never seems to get bored of it lol
we've just got over chicken pox with the kids here, but all are well now (just waiting for scars to clear). I hope alls well with you too xx
you're up late red!
lol. I was wasnt i?
Mr CRX was on a big shout. I often stay up and wait for him to make sure hes safe, but gave up at 1am. Good job really, cos he got in at 4 lol

for the first time in weeks though both little and baby CRX slept through to 9am!!!! woohoo!!!!
