Celebrity. It means nothing. People are increasingly famous for being famous. Mick Jagger is a star, Jodie Marsh is a celebrity. That's it really.
Confidence ...or so Inspector Morse says....
Film stars and singers though I don't know if they come under 'characteristics'. Most make statements in the press, on tv and at awards ceremonies that sound eccentric and meaningless and they think that people are impressed. But I recently read an interview with the actress who played Bridget Jones and was pleasantly surprised that she sounded sensible and down to earth.

friendliness - I am truely unimpressed by people I hardly know chatting away at me as if we've been friends for life - I don't want to know the details of your love life nor do i care where you went on holiday this year - when will people learn just to sit in awkward silence like me!

I don't really understand the question, can someone explain it?

As I asked the question, I should at least try.....

I was thinking of the sorts of behavior people demonstrate (e.g. patient or friendly (slightly suprising choice, undercovers) or cheerful).    Personally, cheerful people who expect others to be cheerful all the time drive me up the wall.   I am a happy soul most of the time, but when I am in a mood, I want to stay in a mood until I am good and ready.  I don't want to be told to be cheerful.

I would have thought that celebrity is not a behavior or trait, but the charateristics or traits that celebrities show are annoying and that the celebrities are therfore overrated (Paris Hilton anybody?).  I guess the trait they have in common is a deeply held belief that fame makes then better (more interesting, cleverer, funnier etc etc) than us mere mortals.  Perhaps we should have 'most annoying celebrity and why thread elsewhere (as a newcomer to this site, I guess it might have happened already)

Ok, prententious (sp?) people that are very false when talking to you and couldn't care less about you but pretend they do. Jealousy, selfishness, thoughtlessness, ignorance.
people who are nice all the time......it just makes me slightly suspicious of them (tho that may say more about me than them!!).
People that put "lol" everywehere, when there's nothing really that funny let alone to actually burst out laughing.

People that post things twice because they don't watch what they're doing.

when people patronise- i can't stand it and just want to slap them.

Also people who are not honest with you - i'd rather someone said things to my face rather than behind my back i'd respect someone more if they just told the truth than to not tell you because they might hurt your feelings (if you know what i mean) .

Natalie LOL, ok I didn't but I did :)
Insincerity. There's nothing worse.

most overrated in my opinion is extreme friendliness, as i find that people who are overly friendly to people's faces are often the first ones to bitch about them behind their back. Most annoying, take your pick from, dishonesty, ignorance, selfishness, agression, insincerity.....

People that are sarcastic and patonising. Scum of the earth

People who constantly brag about what they own.

(Although I know it can be a sign of insecurity).

honesty.  I know someone else said its a good thing, but sometimes people can be too blunt. I also hate it when people (normally us girls) say 'sorry, but...' normally followed up with something really mean.  Saying sorry does not make it any nicer!

also self deprication.  Modesty is fine, but saying something to get a compliment is horrifically annoying to me.  like my size 8 friend holding up her arm and pointing out her 'bingo wings'. gah!

I hate to take a pop at my own gender here but I get annoyed by women who gush over small babies , cute animals etc and suddenly lose the power to speak properly. What I mean is when they suddenly develop a fake sounding lispy baby voice (That's soooooo thweet ) Argh ! I hate that so much. It's so false and sounds pathetic. I once worked with a girl who used to throw a tantrum over a broken fingernail and pout , making silly baby noises. When shown pictures of her colleagues' kids , she broke into this silly baby voice and would continue the rest of the conversation like that. I just wanted to throttle her at times ! Don't get me wrong , I love my kids but I mean , please. Oh and smugness. I get annoyed by people who pick others up for spelling mistakes , incorrect use of punctuation etc. It must be great to be perfect.

enigma - I second all your comments, although I simply adore babies!
