The anaesthetist will probably give you an injection into a vein or drip that has already been set up. As it is a day case the operation will be undoubtedly minimally invasive i.e small 1" incision. The operation will take about 30 mins during which time you will not feel a thing.
Clips or stitches, cup of tea and off you go home. Minimal pain post operatively which will be controlled by paracetamol if necessary.

all the best shaking, still waiting for my hernia op had to be postphoned as my thyroid function was not right and I had to have my thyroxine increased before they would operate, still waiting for another blood test as i have to take the increased dose for 6 weeks then have blood test to see if it is right. I too am grateful to sqad for the imformation as I wouldnt have asked the surgeon either. Let us all know how you get on. I am sure you will be fine shaking.
Got it over with thank goodness but am in quite a lot of discomfort and trying to control this with pain killers which the hospital prescribed., not very successfully though. Have been stapled back together and have to have these removed after 7 days.
Hope your op goes ok Dinkydoo, I know you aren't as scared as I was but no doubt apprehensive and nervous, trust you will receive first class care as I did. Best wishes.

Hi Sachs. Yes feeling a bit better thank you, have got the pain more or less under control and the sickness has ceased. Can have a bath tomorrow which will be welcome and I can discard the surgical stockings, horrid things! It's a true saying, you don't appreciate your health until you haven't got it. Still not up to much but getting there slowly. Thanks for asking after me, your support is appreciated.
