painkillers with energy drinks-harmful?

My gf says that I shouldnt take painkillers like Paracetamol with energy drinks because I could react badly to the combination.

I've never heard such a thing before, is this really the case? She's serious about it too.

No problem at all.
I remember being told the same about taking aspirin and coke (as in cola) when I was younger.
Why would you prefer to take the advice of random strangers on a website than the qualified advice of your own GP?
