painkillers with energy drinks-harmful?

My gf says that I shouldnt take painkillers like Paracetamol with energy drinks because I could react badly to the combination.

I've never heard such a thing before, is this really the case? She's serious about it too.

If they contain caffeine they may cause damage to the liver in combination with paracetamol
