porridge is a good build-up. Pour dry into bowl with boiled water & sugar, stir, add milk. Give you lots of energy to eat more.
Your weight should increase gradually on it's own.
I am glad that you are recovered from your illness. I suggest that you speak to a dietician, your G.P. should be able to sort that for you. You will probably be told to eat lots of carbohydrates, pasta, rice, cereals -make sure that you use brown.

As ummmm says, your body would gradually build up again by eating sensibly but if you want to hasten the process I seriously think you need to take some advice first.
I'm a natural skinny and if I am ill with even something as simple as a cold I shed loads of weight.
Like you, I hate the build up shakes.
One thing I have found which helps is a product called Fortijuice. They come in small 200ml bottles and the blurb on the bottle says they are a high energy nutritional supplement. You can buy them in Boots and I know someone who got her doctor to put them on prescription.
