Do you feel guilty?

Yesterday I went to the butchers to buy some liver. As I walked into the shop, there, on a butcher's block, sat Pinky and Perky (well, not all of 'em - just their heads).
I know all the meat we eat comes from animals, but it fair put me off to see their heads on the table, looking at everybody going in and out of the shop.
I am an animal lover - I really am. Have rescued them for many years. I try to reason with myself that farm animals wouldn't be around at all if we didn't eat 'em. Just wish I didn't like the taste of them so much!
Anyhoo, do you feel guilty about eating animals? Or do you just tuck into your juicy steak and never give it a second thought?

We are the only "apex carnivores" who kill their prey before they eat it ...
... because we are humane and civilised.
So ... no. I'm fine with it.
If the anti-meat brigade want to complain, they should wave thier banners at those nasty lions, eating the back end of a zebra that's still alive.
Now ... bring me a steak tartare and a glass of red.

hi mrs.c., not really a meat eater as such, not a veggie either, so I don't mind having the odd steak with loads of peppercorn sauce, not fussed on bacon, love the smell of it cooking, liver,,,yeuckkk, again the smell is nice, would never eat pork and that is because I collect little piggies (not real ones,,lol) I love them to bits
Perhaps I didn't express myself very well. I don't mean that we should give up eating meat. I'd find that extremely hard to do, 'cos I like the taste so much.
I think I eat too much meat, I like it so much. But quite often when I have some, I think of the animal that lost its life (but don't feel strongly enough to turn me into a veggie, I hasten to add).
