Together with physio and medication, I found it useful to manage my pain. I used to use it before bed, and sometimes during the day, and found it gave some relief. Doesn't work for all types of pain, though. Why not speak to your GP about it. My machine was provided on the NHS.
I bought one of those slendertone belts and that works wonderfully for easing back pain. Doesn't make me any thinner but a real bonus to find it deadens pain. I re-use the gel pads by wetting them with tap water - I think sending off for new gel pads all the time is a bit of a scam. I have lower back trouble but just setting the pads around my middle as I would for the slimming thing does the trick. Think it was 15 at argos - and argos do an own brand which prabably works just as well.
