Do you want to live forever?
22 Answers
It occurs to me that in our society we strive to prolong our lives. The mortality rate is much higher than 70 or even 50 years ago, however what is the quality of life for people in their eighties?
I welcome your thoughts.
I think that as long as I am relatively mobile and mentally astute I would be happy in my old age and would detest being a burden on family.

Same here. I wouldn't want to live forever, but I'd like a long and happy life. Happy means being in control of that life. Once I lose that control, I don't want to be around any more.
I love in dread fear of being 80 or 90, in a home and being made to have a shampoo and set, and having to wear floral dresses and Pirelli slippers because that's what the staff think I'd prefer at my age.
Legalise voluntary euthanasia is what I say.

Me too....i agree with the posters above and am totally in favour of voluntary euthanasia. Just one little pill, put within my reach, which would end it all painlessly, would be what i would like. I've talked about it with my friends (and family) so they all know what i want.
Lets hope that i get to do that when the time is right for me to go....(hopefully not for quite a few years yet). lol

If you are suffering and see no point continuing as your quality of life is bad, then yes,I would have thought so. We have seen people having to travel to Sweden (I think-dignitas?) to do so and we have seen people struggle with the law because they want their partner to help them end it when they can't physically pick up a tablet!!
I support voluntary euthanasia and have made a "pro-choice Living Will" and have left very clear instructions when I begin to lose my faculties!
Some may say that I have lost some of them already ;0]

Hi all, I love reading the comments in all sections of A/B.
I'm an 84 year old male, my grandson taught me how to build and use the computer 2 years ago, I had my left ear pierced 3 weeks ago, my family & I are going to NY & Orlando next week & I will thoroughly enjoy Disney & all the other amenities.
What more can I say, Although my darling wife passed away in march last year,I have now started to live again & am enjoying every minute.
