It's got to be worth a try.
So what do they do then, give you a shock when you take a drag?

Me, I prefer NRT, like gum.
It doesn't give you a shock, it allows you to inhale nicotine without smoke, or most of the dangerous chemicals found in cigarettes.
It is not an ideal way to stop smoking as you still have the habit of 'puffing' on a cig and you are still inhaling nicotine, the addictive part of smoking.

big stew. Have you heard of Champix? My other half tried everything, patches, gum and hypnotherapy but he still craved his nicotine. He started on the Champix tablets 5 weeks ago and within 2 weeks he was down to 4 cigs a day. He's down to 3 a day now. You can get the Champix off your doctor. I never thought my OH would do it but he is. Champix block the nicotine receptor's in the brain. Go for it!

Can be 'smoked' on long flights as only vapour is inhaled/exhaled. They're a good alternative. Am still addicted tho' especially since I have a stash under my bed ;)
Agree with the-knobster , 8 months for me
I gave up on willpower 4 months ago and havent touched one since but I had a very good reason for giving up (death of father to cancer). The craving to light up is still there and it may never go away, but Im afraid of going back to "that place" and lighting up just one will undo all the hard work so far. It is not going to happen.
Waste of space.

They give you the Nicotine hit, which is good, but the problem is, its the Nicotine that your addicted to.

They will help you keep off the Cigarettes, but the only real way is your own willpower.
Thanks chinadog,I`d never heard of champix.Ive tried the patches inhalators will power alone.I really want/need to stop.I will go and see my GP and see if he will prescibe me some,be great to be smoke free.Do you start the Champix before you give up or during,or both? Will look into them now online....Thanks
forget it bigstew.....you're still smoking and attached to the ritual..it will only be a matter of time before you replace the electric with a real one.

Stay off the fags for 21 days and you will have broken the habit.
21 day to develop and 21 days to break...3 weeks..nowt really. good luck..
Sorry Razz ...gotta disagree. I was off cigs for almost 3 months - wanted them every day...I was a nightmare - really bad tempered etc...and eventually at xmas i went back on them again...

so the 21 days thing did nt work for me....

yea, i know..i'm weak.... ;-)
3 months is the killer. Many people struggle to stop and cave in at 3 months. Don't know why, but it's true.

Thanks everyone. Might investigate the Chapix and still might give the electric ones a go. Makes it a bit harder as we both smoke, but got to knock them on the head. cheers.
