Hi All,

Since Monday my OH has had a sharp kind of stabbing pain in the lower left hand side of his stomach. It isn't going away and said yesterday that if anything it is getting worse. It also started off only when he walked, but now it is a constant pain that is worse when he walks.

The strange thing is that he has not lost his appetite at all or anything else, but keeps wincing in pain when he is up and about.

He is going to try and get a Drs appt tomorrow, (he hasnt been able to yet as only have 1 car which I have to take to work) but just wondered if anyone had any ideas what it may be?

Many thanks

Diverticulitis.....for starters.

Hi sqad..

Thanks for your quick reply.

I have just googled diverticulitis, and it doesnt sound nice!
How would they go about finding out if it is that? Or does what I have described generallypoint to it in most cases?
Acute diverticulitis is quite common and is not life threatening, as it is inflammation of diverticulosis ( little blind endings sacs in the colon).

He needs to see a Gastro -Enterologist for a Colonoscopy to confirm the diagnosis.

There are other, less common causes.
not constipated is he by any chance? without sounding gross is his urine thick and concerntrated or dark?

Thanks sqad, :-)

Hopefully he will get a DR appt tomorrow, and they can send him in the right direction.

Hi zzxxee,

No he is not constipated at all.

Just had a message that he tried calling NHS direct, but no surprise they arent taking calls, and that it said to check the website or speak to a pharmacist. He gave my SIL a call as she is a pharmacist, and she said it may sound like a possible hernia? And he also said that it does hurt when he touches/pinches his side.
