Christain Vs Jews

I wonder if anyone can help me out...

I have been with my boyfiend of nearly 2 years now, we are very much in love and at the beginning of us going out, he explained to me that he was a very religious born again Christian.  I am a jewish girl and he didnt want this to ruin the relationship and if I wasnt happy with with this then we shyould end it ebfore it got too serious, but I didnt end it and found out that we loved each other very much.

However, about a year ago, he was tlaking to me aboutt what he and his family belive in and how Jesus is the messiah and how that this is the truth of the world and that jews are stil wating for thier messiah to come and that we dont beleive in the same thing as Christians.  We are going to somwething called "the alpha course" every wednesday, learning about Jesus and god and everything to do with it.  I am starting to belive in God whereas i didnt before and neither does my family.  i cant let myself belive about Jesus, probably mainly because it would kill my mum and dad if i ever did so i wont let myself, they know i am going to it every week but dont really ask about it - i knw that they arent very happy about it but are happy that i want to learn about god.

my boyfriend and i were talking the other day about us getting marrried and about having kids togther, well, where could we get married.  certainly not in a church or a synagogue and what would our kids learn about life? my bloke says that they would learn the truth about jesus but is that how jews should be and what they should belive in? i love him dearly and want to be with him forever but this is troubling me, but i dont want to spend the rest of my life learning abouit jesus and going to churches etc.. i dont know what to do.  someone got any advice for me?

It's a shame that religion can cause so many problems... especially when its proponents claim "God is Love".

 

Talk to your partner and your parents. Tell them all that you respect their beliefs and they must respect yours.

As far as the Jewish religion goes, children take the religion of the mother, so from your parents' point of view the children will be Jewish, whether or not you take them to Shul .

I am shocked by some of the advice you have been given here.... I truly believe that if your love is strong enough it will make no difference what religion you are... and as to thoe who do believe in God or whatever they worship....I think it is wrong to say they are simply clinging to a raft or whatever nonsene that person was saying!!! Also - is your boyfriend forcing you to go along to church with him? Or have you agreed to go because you were interested - and wanted to know more about his interests? In any case - you have said you cant let yourself believe in Jesus... why is that... surely your parents will come to accept whichever path you choose in life? And I am sure your boyfriend will respect your decision if you decide to continue with your Jewish faith.  As a member of the LDS church (Mormon) - I often face negative attitudes from people, thinking I am involved in some sort of cult, this is decidedly untrue - and my parents have come to accept my decision - and more than that support me in it.  I have had boyfriends - not of the same religion, and never had a problem, if anything we have enjoyed discussing things, and finding out things we didnt know about the others religions. Sorry to be going on, but i was shocked at some of the other advice you got... I hope things work out for you.

hey i'm in the same boat expect i'm a christain and my b/f he is a jew i love  alot and he loves me as well  he said that if we get married i will have to change  my reglion and i think u don't do you? n-e--ways  don't dump him!!!!!!!!!!

 no  i say  this to you  i never been to a  synagogue before  and i'm intersed i wouln't mind chaning my reglion we  kind  belive in the  same thing expect u don't belive in jesus christ so what is so hard so what about your reglion as long as u belive in god!! i do and so do my b/f you do to and your b/f expect we belive there is a son  name jesus christ.

 Iam a christian and there are lots of jews who have met the lord. jesus really loves us all in his eyes there is no religon only love. i think if you have found love in each other this is a blessing from god,The jews are gods chosen people and Jesus is the son of God.Get married please your heavenly father and god bless you 2

Fancy throwing my penny's worth in here. As i suppose i'd be classified agnostic (though i do strongly dislike that everyone gets classified in a religious way of some description) the fact that religion is causing conflict in a relationship rather baffling. I was brought up in fairly unreligious circumstances and therefore my opinion may sound rather objective but to feel totally faithful in an explanation of spirituality, the universe and our 'souls' created and adjusted over time by humans is nothing other than short sighted. All religion's have been created and changed through time by man, modern Catholicism is unrecognisable from the faith 500 years ago. Anglican archbishops are being urged to accept homosexuals into the church when the bible reads against them - which incidentally is so absurd i can't believe modern society allows us to even print bibles, talk about inciting hatred, have the government even read it!? Religion's are one of many forms of control, believers restrict their behaviour because of them, for example the belief that the cow is holy in Hinduhism (spell?) is only a few hundred years old. It was incorporated into the religion by the state to prevent farmers eating cattle during famines - thus ensuring India's dairy supply (feel free to research this). I'm dragging on, my point is please be confident enough to release indoctrinated beliefs and assess the world for what you see. So many weird and unexplainable things happen everyday that there has to be something there, i just know that we don't know what it is....yet.

surely if you're going to carry on this relationship it should be an equal relationship. if you're going to christian classes once a week you should also go to jewish classes together
