my sis has had it done, but hers didn't work the first time, she had to go back at least a couple more times, she said it did hurt and the smell of the laser cutting her eye was horrible. Her eyesight although better than before is not perfect and she still needs to wear reading glasses for close up work. She said she thinks it was all worth it, but I think I'll just stick to my contact lenses thank you very much :)
I had it done 5 or 6 years ago. Best thing I ever did, although my experience wasn't great (I won't go into details, it'll out you off) and I didn't end up with 20-20 vision.
But my friend who had it done a year before me now has to wear glasses again as her eyes have deteriorated again, which can happen (she's 35 by the way) so it's a fair wedge of cash and you are not guaranteed a permanent cure unfortunately.
I know someone who had it done and they have basically wrecked one eye. They have lasered that much off it that there is nothing left to laser so no more correctgions can be done and his eyesight is worse than it was before.
Another friend has had it done and is more than happy with the results.
I too will stick to my contact lenses, it ain't worth the risk.
I'm too scared but it turns out not all people can have it done, only people with certain eye's, so u might get worked up about nothing if they cannot do it?
Just make sure you go to a reputable company. I was involved in trials at Moorfileds in the early 90's and have no complaints. From what I have heard huge progress has been made since. Good luck. I've certainly no regrets.
