describe what is meant by "infections" and "colonisation "

Colonisation describes the portal of entry......how the organisms gain entry.....e.g bowel, genitals, lungs etc.

Infections describe the tissue reactions to invading organisms.

There is a poster on AB called LazyGun who clearly is a scientist, so perhaps he can give you his assessment of the two terms.
