Am i going mad or does someone else remember that one monday morning in the late 70's a tobacco substitute called NSM- New Smoking Material, apeared in the shops, with very little publicity. there was an NSM version of all the regular brands with similar packaging next to the originals on the shelves. it was a faliure seemingly, and lasted 2-3 weeks and then disapeared.
firstly am i dreaming, if not what was NSM and can you still get it?

They were withdrawn because nobody wanted them as they cost the same as an ordinary packet of cigarettes, tasted insipid and done nothing to wean you off nicotine. I believe cellulose was one of the main ingredients of these cigarettes.
