I at last have personal experience of a question posed by a ABer.

If there is little bleeding and bruising and providing he wears a support or tight underpants......3days.

If there is bleeding or severe bruising....not uncommon........7days+

Are you having it done privately or NHS?
P.S What is his job...physical or sedentary?
me too sqad, just a little bruising not much discomfort at all really.
I had mine done about 30 years ago. Techniques have probably moved on since then, but I was in discomfort for about a week. It affects different guys in different ways, some are back to work in a couple of days. I suppose it depends a bit on your pain threshhold.
Having said that, it was one of the best decisions of my life and definitely worth the discomfort. No more worries about unwanted kids - such joy and peace of mind.

thanks squad. it'd be done privately. His job involves about and hour driving and about four hours walking / (sometimes climbing on ladders etc but no real "heavy" lifting as such). do you ever regret having the snip?
Islowry......being poorly endowed, I would have liked the swelling to have remained longer............but no, back to my inadequate "tackle"

thanks everyone - keep your answers flowing
yes, re your "pregnancy scare" thread, I don't think you've thought this through. vasectomy isn't for people who are "confused" about whether they want children. it's for people who are absolutely sure they NEVER want children.
eve....never regretted it. I am glad that he is having it done privately and give him my regards.

My mate did it for me on a Saturday morning and after he put in the local he disappeared. During that time, his wife asked me if I would like a glass of sherry to which I agreed. When my mate came back, we both got a "bollocking"....me.....literally.
or for people who don't want any more, sara
thank you, Islowry, I think that was a given.
your mate did it for you sqad? what with? a couple of bricks
Islowry.....no, not with a couple of bricks, but I held the book of instructions, whilst he followed my orders.

What with the sherry etc. Mrs sqad had to go shopping and left me in a supermarket car park and on her return I was fast asleep.

sara - pls see my my answer on pregancy scare thread. I DONT want children. It was the "feeling" that confused me. ...not whether we wanted a baby or not. thanks for your input though. keep it coming
Nature put mens' bits on the outside so that they could be operated on more readily.

It takes 30 seconds ... here ...

Worst bit is the stubble as your pubes grow back!!
a vasectomy doesn't make any difference to you except the possible outcome. my wifes health was being affected by the pill, so it seems only fair that i should do my bit. its worth it just for piece of mind, eve dawn

like your wife islowry i no longer want artificial hormones in my body. we spke about me getting sterilised as an option but it appears its alot easier for a man to get it done...and he is more than happy, like you were, to do his bit
jason.p ... don't grow them back then !
