This is from 2006, another quiz had the questions about London streets. Might help you or might confuse you more.

i think i am alive but i don't know the answers sorry
I think the TV "character" could be the dog Dreyfus from Golden Girls and Empty Nest because the question in the paper follows directly the one about that series. There is a town called Dreyfus in Kentucky. The way the question is couched does not necessarily mean the character name had an association with the town, it could just mean they have the same name.

Ian Dury and the Blockheads - "I Want To Be Straight" begins with the band members introducing themselves - however, that only got to No. 22, so that doesn't count.

Frankie Goes to Hollywood - "Two Tribes" was No 1 and a couple of the 12" remixes had three of the band members introducing themselves: "My name's Ped, my name's Mark, my name's Nash...", so that may not count either because Holly Johnson and Paul Rutherford didn't introduce themselves.

However, "Float On" by The Floaters which was No 1 in August 1977 begins with the entire band introducing themselves, so I think that's the one:

Thank you all late-nighters .. what you have done is make me realise that some of these questions could have more than one answer i.e 1 the number of streets depending on how they have included/ excluded spelling variations.2 The namecheck one has other options like adam and the ants. and 3 the Kentucky one could also include Homer for which there is a town amongst from I think... about 3000 small towns large towns and then cities, in Kentucky it is quite a list.... but I can't make a link with the Simpsons and to set the question it must mention somewhere that this is where the programme makers got the idea. Thanks for your ideas they are much appreciated at this time of night.
