Sore throat

I woke up this morning with a sore throat. But it got me thinking- what actually CAUSES the soreness? Most other types of pain you cn explain and they are linked with something. But why is it sore? And is there any "soreness" to see? I always wondered!

Well I don't really know the exact neurologic responses going on to make you feel this sensation known as "pain". But in a sore throat, for example tonsilitis, the "soreness" can be seen actually.

Go look in the mirror with your mouth wide open, and say "aa.." immediately you will notice red inflammed patches behind the uvula. Those are your inflammed tonsils. TO supress the pain, we usually take anti inflammatory drugs.

If you spend much of your sleep snoring then your throught will be sore

i thought when you get a sore throat it is because your body is trying to fight an infection, which is why you often get one after you haven't had much sleep, because that makes you more vulnerable to infections. Its to do with your glands swelling, but i don't know why they do it! Not related to the cause but i have noticed that if you drink loads of water then the soreness goes away and you're more likely to fight off the infection that to get it.
