Everyone living/visiting Britain is entitled to NHS dental treatment - but unless they are in receipt of certain income based benefits (Disability Living Allowance, etc., don't qualify) they have to pay the NHS dental charges. In the Emergency Service provided where I live this charge is £12. But its only a 'get out of pain' 'emergency' treatment. They still have to arrange for their own NHS dentist to have permanent treatment. (i.e. not a dressing for a filling). A telephone number is provided where, if contacted, a list of NHS dentists accepting NHS patients, is given. There are still practices who accept NHS patients in our local area. Not sure about other areas in the country.
