Well I have had a prob in my left side for about 3 years now. At first it felt like I was laying on an egg. I have been back and forward to my GP lots of times. She is really sympathetic, but doesn't really know what it is. She can't feel anything and I can't either with my hand, but at night it feels like I have a baby kicking in my abdomen. I have been to lots of places in the last few years, Africa, China etc and am wondering if I have a worm or something? I have no other symptoms, no vomiting, constipation or diahorrea. I am really struggling with this. The worst thing is, I can't sleep. Any help, please??

Any ideas squad?
Has your GP ever referred you for a scan? I would demand one if not
The GP appears to believe you so can't she send you for an x-ray or scan to see what is going on?

Who is squad? Has he got medical knowledge? If he has, I would be really grateful.

Yes, I have been for an ultra sound, the guy said he could feel something with his hand, but the lump didn't look anything different than the surrounding tissue on the screen. I went for an MRI, normal. I had a CT scan, don't know the result from that yet.
Sounds like some sort of intestinal spasm.
Hernia?
Lump present for 3yrs.
MRI normal.
Scan..no result at the moment.

I think that we can safely rule out any life threatening disorders and certainly intestinal worms.

Your left side is a bit vague.......where in your left side?...ribs, groin....where?

The only condition that comes to mind is Idiopathic Myoclonus, a condition where for no apparent reason, muscle groups go into spasm. Annoying, but nothing life threatening or sinister.

Thank you all for your input. Sqad - the lump is just below waist level, slightly towards my navel. I am going back to the hospital at the end of this month to see the surgeon, but am concerned that all the tests will be negative and there will be no treatment suggested. The one strange symptom I do have, which I forgot to mention, is that I am belching for England, much to the amusement of my family and friends!
oldmegan....thanks for your feedback......if the surgeon can´t feel it and the tests are negative, then one cannot expect a diagnosis and hence treatment.

Will be interested to hear the results.

Hello Sqad - Latest development, my GP has put me on Mebeverine tablets to see if I have an IBS sort of condition. At the moment, they appear to be making it worse. I am seeing the consultant next week and will persevere with pills until then and see what he says. Any comment, pse? old megan
oldmegan...thanks for the feedback.

Mebeverine if my memory serves me right is a smooth muscle relaxant used for bowel spasms. Will be interested to see what the consultant says as it still sound like and abdominal muscle spasm.......benign fasicular syndrome.

Sqad - am still taking the pills. Have had a few stabbing pains in my left side today. Do you think that is good or bad? Is stuff moving around or wot? Going to hospital tomorrow. old megan
oldmegan, without a definitive diagnosis it is difficult to comment on the pains. All the best at the hospital today and please let os know the outcome.

Hi Sqad. Went to hospital today. He basically said the tests hadn't found anything at all. He thought the pills were a good idea to try and to come back if it got any worse. So I haven't really got anywhere. I know it is good that I haven't got a tumour or anything horrid, but I am still uncomfortable! Thanks for your input. old megan
