I have been using Perfectil for Hair Skin and Nails for three months now, my nails are a bit better but not my skin or hair. I have now bought some Kelp. Would this be better? Especially for thinning hair. Also my thyroid is slightly underactive but borderline. Not enough for tablets. Would kelp help this ?

Yes, it has been shown to inhibit the aids virus. It really is a wonder food.
Can I ask what dosage you take spiralina Nomercy and Pastafreak as I understood that to get any real benefits you need to megadose. Any "Burst of energy" Would be down to the placebo effect.

You can safely take between 1 and 3 gms daily, in 3 daily doses.

The surge of energy is probably to do with having all 22 essential amino acids in addition to a vast array of nutrients that are sadly missing from our western diets.

Spirulina is also now used as a colourant in the new 'healthier' smarties - if you've ever needed an excuse to eat more chocolate ladies.... ;)
Would you tell me where I can buy spirulina and under what name. I have looked at H and B website but I can't find it.

Well I was buying it in Mercadona until I came back here. They sold the powdered form, encapsulated.

You can get pressed tablets or powder in H&B I think.

I took 1tsp of powder per day...that was the recommended dosage. I also made sure I bought organic as it is unadultarated.
I would be interested in what all of you that brought it think of it, so don't forget to come back here and report your finds regarding spirulina. A word of warning, I personally found the powder impossible to mix into a drink and it just floated rather ominously on top and then got stuck in my throat. maybe a blender will help but I'm not sure.
It is usually recommended that it be put in a smoothie. I found a bit of water to start-stir-then a bit more,and I was able to drink it.
I must admit, I prefer capsules or tablets.
Regarding dosage nomercy.

Spirulina: A maintenance dosage of Spirulina is 3 -- 5 grams per day. Although their nutritional profile may appear to be quite similar, Spirulina and Chlorella are completely different foods. Spirulina is great before a physical workout. I take 5 – 6 grams religiously before any kind of physical training. Stamina, endurance and recovery are significantly improved with Spirulina. After a strenuous workout where the body is pushed to its limits, an additional 10 – 20 grams should be taken during the following 24 hours to rebuild the body and muscle tissue that has been torn down.

Spirulina should also be taken 15 – 30 minutes before a meal to help prepare the stomach for proper digestion since it also helps accelerate the reproductive rate of probiotics.
Maintenance Dosage: 3 – 5 grams/day
Significant Part of the Diet: 6 – 10 grams/day
Immune System Builder: 11 – 14 grams/day
Primary Source of Protein : 12 – 19 grams/day
Healing Purposes: 20 – 25+ grams/day

Also great before a workout

But then again a company wants to sell you as much as they can to make a profit but there are many sites giving dosages between 500mg- 25 gms which would cost you quite a bit.
I personally wouldn't take any more than 3gms daily. But then I do have a very good diet anyway.
