I have been using Perfectil for Hair Skin and Nails for three months now, my nails are a bit better but not my skin or hair. I have now bought some Kelp. Would this be better? Especially for thinning hair. Also my thyroid is slightly underactive but borderline. Not enough for tablets. Would kelp help this ?

My hairdresser told me that kelp does indeed thicken the hair.

i still keep taking them though.

thanks looby. Did it help anything by any chance ?? Sensible answers only please ..
Have you tried Spirulina, Smurf? It is one of the most nutritionally dense superfoods on the planet and contains ALL essential amino acids known to man.

What does spirulina help, NoM? Whatever it helps, I am sure I need it ... ha ha
no, i dont think so smurf.

but, sayiing that, i am on other meds for diabetes, so you never know it might have something to do with that why ive not got a lovely glossy mane of hair.
so give em a try, theyre not expensive, even from holland and barratt, and see if you notice any difference yourself. its worth a try. you might have better results than me :o)
In short, Spirulina is cardio and renal protective, has been shown to reduce tumours, is anti-ageing and has a dense nutritional composition containing almost all vitamins, nutrients, minerals, oligo elements and phyto-nutrients known to man. That's just the tip of the iceberg. Google it and read some of the facts about it.
i think i'll be getting some of that then! how about you smurf?! lol
It's brilliant for weightloss too. Because it contains all 22 amino acids, it is a complete food. If you take it 20 minutes before a meal, you will likely consume less as the protein sustains you between mealtimes.

But back to your original question... if anything is going to improve the condition of your hair, Spirulina will.

It also has terrific anti-viral properties and helped me immensely when I had all the symptoms of EBV (glandular fever) last year.
but will it help me sleep and get rid of my wrinkles??
Where can you buy it NoM - sounds like something I would be very interested in.

BTW -how are you feeling now? Hope youre over the worst of it x
It does have potent anti-ageing properties. lol

Dris... I had my glands flare up again last week and swollen tonsils so I had a 5-day course of penicillin. I'm better now but still very tired. x x
Sorry... you can buy it in H&B and all good health shops.

Never heard of spirulina before but it sounds great ... I am going to queue up at the health store now ... where is that flask of tea and my tent ? Seriously, I will try it. Thanks NoM x

Im glad youre feeling a bit better -its the fatique which follows you can do without but you have to go with the flow.
I have just googled -its ideal for me to complement the type of diet I have. Thanks for that tip :)
It's a wild blue-green algae and grows in warm lakes.

In southern India where tobacco chewing is prevalent, studies were carried out on 1000 subjects with oral cancer. After 12 months of having 1000mgs of Spirulina per day, 45% of subjects had a complete remission in their tumours.

I remember that I had an incredible surge of energy 2 days after starting to take it.

There is something that Jenny Bond advertises, and that girl out of the Eurovision where the men pulled the skirts off (I'm getting old, you know how I mean, Cheryl something I think) Anyway they advertise something in the newspaper which has a sea product in, I went to the chemist and it was £60 a month ! That's why I tried Perfectil. By the way I have posted this thread before about the £60 a month ... Oh Cheryl Baker I remember now .... senior moment ....
I started taking Spirulina after NoM mentioned it on another site. I also had a surge in energy, and it seemed to help curb my appetite for junk.I've not taken it for about a month-but intend to go on it again., I used the powdered,as I hate tablets. It tastes evil..... ;-(
Spirulina is also used in third world countries as a cheap and effective way to boost the nutrition of children and aids patients.
