dog poo

If dog poo is black because it's got blood in it it would be black all the way through wouldn't it? This morning my friend's dog did a poo that was dark brown, not black, on the outside but lighter inside. It was perfectly normal in ever other way - no foul smell, normal texture etc. Another friend said this meant it had digested blood in it but I think it would be black all the way through and appear different if it did. I'm sure the friend is wrong, am I right to think this?

A very small amount is nothing to worry about if the dog has strained to go, but any more than a few smatterings should be referred to a vet. The colour of the poo is more to do with what it has eaten. Liver often makes the poo darker.
