I've seen this woman who I really would like to get to know. She lives some distance form me so I can't introduce myself personally. I have obtained her mobile phone number (from the friend of a friend) ................ how do I say hello to her by text without sounding like a weirdo/stalker? Any advice greatly received!

I think adding her on facebook (if you both have it) is the best suggestion. with the request, write a note saying how you know of her, and how you have friends that are friends. . . .

Sara3, if it is you, it wasn't me! First time I've had this dilemma.

Given the more reasoned replies from the women, I'm inclined to forget about it. As you can see from my question, I could see the potential for it being a scary situation for the recipient.
