Urgent eczema question
24 Answers
My daughter suffers from acute eczema but, until now, we had it under control.
Lately, she has been suffering from severe rashes on her hands, legs, buttocks and, starting tonight tonight, her face!
She is in pain and very distressed
Primary care said 'take her home and give her Calpol!
The doctor's keep sending her home or prescribing creams that only make it worse.
I have taken her to the GP, the Primary Care and the A and E, they all just keep throwing useless creams or ridiculous advice at me.
Has anyone got any experience in this? I need help.
Although the last doctor I saw said I shouldn't worry about it
She previously suffered from Henoch Schonlein Purpura.

I can`t really see why the Calpol would help her apart from it`s anti-inflammatory properties. Don`t some eczema creams have retinol in them? I think they inflame the skin initially, but calm it eventually. Maybe you should give it a while and see how her skin settles down when it gets used to it (assuming it is retinol of course). Sqad will answer your question in the morning, I`m sure (and tell me I don`t know what I`m talking about, probably)! Good luck
My baby has had eczema since he was 4 months old and it won't go away. GP prescribed Oilatum, Aqueous cream and hydrocortisone (sp) and it has done nothing. Funnily enough we had an appointment with the dermatologist today who has said that what was prescribed by the GP was useless. He has now been prescribed antibiotics to be taken internally and various emolient creams and steroids to be applied 2 or 3 times a day.
i had the same sort of thing a few years ago, although i was in pain, it wasn't so bad that i was curled up on the bed though. I tried everything and the only thing that worked was aqueous cream, just rub it in and don't wash it off. It's probably the weather that's making it worse too. Try not having the heating on too high as that can really dry your skin out and get her to drink plenty of liquids to keep her hydrated. I really hope she feels better soon.
Well, it certainly would appear that the acute eczema is now acute infected eczema and this is indeed a painful situation. You haven't mentioned what type of creams that your daughter is having, but she certainly would benefit from antibiotic cream e.g Fucidin and antibiotics by mouth as described by tigerblue.
I have no idea now old she is, but continue with the Calpol
I can see no connection with her past history of Henoch-Schonlein Purpura.

She has, with no benefit.....that is why she is on AB
