A friend of mine was in danger of possibly losing her leg earlier this year and confided that she could never cope and would rather not even try the op to save it. I asked her how her daughter would feel, Mum with one leg or no Mum, sounds flippant but I know her so well.
She had the op and she is in a great deal less pain and still has her leg. Remember I am here anytime you want to talk.
Joko apologies for the hijack, but hope you have gleaned some insight from our replies. I am in pain daily following a nasty accident resulting in multiple fractures, it does grind you down, fortunately mine is moderate mostly and severe occasionally, so try to get on with it.

Bog off ttfn. :-)
I think you do get more used to pain as you get older ummmm. It just seems to be easier to get on with it. You wake up with it so know you have to put up with it. God, I'm only 53 and sounding like I'm 80. There's days I feel like it. A sense of humour always helps and these two wonderful ladies have kept me going for a while ( but don't tell mamya and ttfn I said that).

ta ummmm. ruddy jan had to rub my nose in the age difference didn't she - pah! I'll have you know my state of health would be marvellous if I had been born 40 years earlier than I was - so ner ner. I offered my body to medical science and it was rejected :o(

hijack away, i was just curious really about how others feel about pain....i have a lot of pain all the time and it is indeed very depressing and constanly annoying...and theres nothing i can do about it...
its occasionally severe but mainly just nagging and bearable...
however i am so used to it now that i suspect that if the same level of pain came on someone else suddenly theyd view it much worse...
jan - im sorry to hear about your issue...it must be tough.
society - no its not about my ankle - that was my boyfriends ankle... its more about my hypermobility, pcos and ibs.
i think i too would rather suffer excruciating pain for a few months than a lifetime of annoying pain
