Following on from the question about "Got", below. Where did this horrific tendency to ask for things by saying "Can I get?" come from? As in "Can I get a cup of coffee?" I just want to reply on behalf of the poor sod behind the counter, "I don't know can you?" Aaarrrggghhh, anyone else find this infuriating? Slightly retarded? Is this you? you can come clean here!

Like so much of the bad things that cross the Atlantic, it's an Americanism.

I find it infuriating as well Loosehead - I suppose the only consolation is that 'Have a nice day' and 'Missing you already' haven't caught on as much as they originally threatened to!

I love "missing you already" but use it in a "get out of my sight before i kill you and never come back " kind of way
