dying hair from bleach blonde to brown

Hiya the majority of my hair is bleach blonde and I want to in either a dark plum or medium to dark brown.. I know your ment to put a red 1st and then a brown but I wondering if putting the plum on 1st would work instead. Then at least this way if I dont like the plum I can just go straight brown. Any advise would be greatly appreciated thanks

Treat yourself to a hairdresser. I did it myself and my hair went all cotton-wool like and had to be cut out. Hairdresser was wonderful and did a hair test, consultation etc first. Well worth it as a treat!

I would but cant afford it at the mo. I payed 90 pound last time I went blonde from brown to a supposedly expert hairdresser and really wasn't happy with it :-S

Yeah pinkilady thats what happened last time I went dark I just put a brown straight over the blonde and it kept fading really quickly. Apparently you are meant to put red on it 1st to put the warmth back in it, but im not sure if the plums going to be enough warmth as I want a more purple shade

purple to brown will work better than blonde to brown. Red/purple tones do wash out but can be topped up with colored mousse.
