Hubbie and I lay one night a week aside for board games and vinyl on an old (but new) record player. Switch the TV off (everythings on record anyway). We play Trivial, Dingbats, Dominoes, jigsaws etc. I buy old games in charity shops. Makes for a nice evening without having to think of work and so on. Still hoping to play the Dr Who Time Game and the Da Vinci Code game soon (bought 2 copies of each cheap) and a new Lego Pyramid game. Failing that, get a child's colouring book and some felt tips. Go Retro, you can dress up if you want and serve appropriate food. Good night in which doesn't cost much. Am I sad or what?

Haven't since before xmas but the boys like a game of chess.
Remember playing Monopoly years ago. I always got to be banker and would filch money when no-one was looking. So you shouldn't really blame Gordon Brown, it was me all the time!
Well people keep buying them anyway!

Whether people actually play them, of course, is another matter ;-)

(PS: Living on my own, and with no close social circle, I don't get the chance to play any board games these days, but I used to like Cluedo. I've also enjoyed playing Monopoly and Trivial Pursuit. I've only played a couple of games of Backgammon but I think that I could get into it. I was also one of the first people in the country to acquire the British Chess Federation's 'Regional Coach' award).
i was playing a boardgame with my son and his girlfriend, cross words, which we got out of a charity shop, also got'operation'
My brother always did that Mike! Made me mad!
My sister and family played Mah Jong at Christmas, I like playing scrabble, but I have to play on the computer.
Me and dad can beat mum at trivial persuit. But we are planning on getting a newer version as some of the geography answers are countries that don't exist or in sports the answer no longer stand as someone has won wimbledon more times since etc.

We also play monopoly and cards in the winter if there's nothing on tele.
I play Chess when I can.
Mainly online now.
Why do I like it? Because it's a 'take no prisoners' game.
Also like Trivial Pursuit and Monoply.

I thought the whole point of chess WAS to take a prisoner.

Does anyone like Pictionary?
I remember as a kid playing Nine Men's Morris and Chinese Chequers, but wouldn't have a clue how to play them now.
Our favourite is The Big Taboo - bit of drawing, bit of acting (with Bendy Bob) and wordy bits. Great fun at Christmas
Love Pictionary, have had so many laughs playing that. We played Cranium over Xmas which is fun, combines Triv, Pictionary, Charades, name that tune, clay modelling - allsorts really.
I do, all the time. most of them are total garbage though.
I hope your idea is not along the lines of something like 'game of life' The worse 7 quid (or what ever it cost) i have ever wasted

We play monopoly and scrabble mainly.
I love Pictionary!!!! Fantastic and so pant-wettingly funny!! Love pass the bomb, jenga (not board games per sea)....hate trivial pursuit..bores the pants off me!
Yes we do, although Mr Jules and son are not too keen, but can be persuaded at family gatherings like Christmas. DD and her friends at 18+ all play and love Articulate and Monopoly. I received the new Monopoly Revolution as a Christmas gift and we had fun playing the old favourite with the new twist (still took just as long to play though!)
I feel quite deprived if i don't play chess every day. Since there is no local chess club
i am obliged to play the game against the computer. I realise that i'm addicted, but I
need to get my blood-chess level topped up regularly.
Why chess ? Because it's the finest game in the world, and it prevents the onset of pre-senile dementia. I like Bridge too, but that's not a board game.....
Me and Halifax juniors like playing cards, Upwords, Connect 4, Draughts, Chess...the only problem is I have to sit through playing 'Pirates of the Caribbean' DVD board game - it is truly awful, but they enjoy it !?!
Pictureka (sp) is good and my five year can beat the older ones at it.
