Hi sqad could u give me some advice please?
My brothers had breathing problems for around a year & finally gone to the docs today who have gave him steroids and an inhaler, He's been told to go back on Friday then told to make an appointment for hospital on Monday for a chest X-ray .. Do u think this sounds like asthma? I no asthma is serious but I'm worried these symptoms may be more serious than that .. Thankyou x

Sounds like a routine chest x-ray that Doctors arrange for any patient with breathing problems. If the inhalers are working then it is probably Asthma. Hope it goes ok.
I hope all is ok, but please keep me updated because I think I maybe in the same position.

Thanks guys I really hope the steroids & inhaler work & of course what.. the? I will let u no do u think u should see the doc too tho? x
In all probability this is a simple case of asthma. However "Al that glistens isnt gold"

"Al that wheezes is not asthma"

He will need a chest X-ray to eliminate any other causes of shortness of breath and depending upon the X-Ray, may need further investigations.

I don´t know if your brother is a smoker, what work he does, but commonest things occur commonest and the commonest cause of your brother´s symptoms is ...asthma.

Keep us informed.
well I have been struggling for a few months, I'm not the visiting doctors type, I have been trying to consider environmental factors like builders dust, allergies, fitness etc?

I think I will have to go at some point but I want to feel a bit more comfortable in my own skin first as it's mainly all male doctors and I don't want to currently get topless with the Christmas weight on. I know it is stupid but as I am not falling over due to lack of oxygen I would rather wait and in the mean time check for other factors.

Plus if it's an allergy they haven't looked for but just test me and find poor lung capacity/function and put me on inhaler's I could be on steroids all my life when I don't need them, I would hate to take it unnecessary.

I took a nasal steroid for 6 months last year for a mould allergy as my house at the time had bad mould which resulted in sneezing, runny nose, and red eyes, I stopped taking when the mould stopped, but I wonder if the steroid had damaged my lungs, I've moved house since?

What .. The?
How long have u felt like this?
My brothers been like this for a year, He really doesant like going to the docs now it's got that bad he's had no choice. I'd hate for u to get that bad, You have to take care of yourself x
jonah, asthma comes in all sizes and shapes. If he's breathing very badly it's bad. If he's just wheezing a bit, not nearly so bad. I've sort of got asthma, and I have an inhaler that I use about once a month, and that's very not bad. So even if he's got it it may be no big deal (to use a medical phrase)
what-the!!! get your body whatever its shape to your doctors.... tell them your worries perhaps they can arrange for you to go to a chest clinic where there is a female doctor available... they would probably have to if you said your religion forbade you undressing for a man ....But the doctor had to look at me yeasterday and I don't like it....because at over 18st I am really self conscious but needs must...
thanks so everyone's concerns x
