Further to "Wheetan's" reply in the slimming world thread below. has anyone else read the "i can make you slim" book by McKenna ?

Love to hear your thoughts and a brief description on the theory behind it if poss as i've got to lose a few stone that ive gained since quitting the fags 7 years ago.

Really did set me off on the right road. Nothing to do with dieting, just very sensible and logical. I don't believe in diets. It is all about learning to recognise when you are full and eating slowly really, and changing your mindset. I have nothing but praise for the book. Give it a go!! It's excellent.

I could never get on with things like Weight Watchers or slimmers world - I hate groups!! I did this on my own. I have never put the weight back on I lost either and I eat well!!
you've convinced me lottie, have just ordered it from amazon, need a little help at the moment as my diet has stalled a bit.

Lottie, I've always had stick from people because (in their eyes) I'm a really slow eater.
I don't think I am, I just eat at my own pace, chew my food properly and enjoy it. If I try to eat any faster I just feel stuffed within a few mouthfuls.
More often now though, there seem to be reports telling you to eat slowly as it has a number of benefits, one of which is to help recognise when you are full thereby helping you to stay slim. In my own case, I've never been overweight so I think there's something in it.
How some people eat so fast is absolutely beyond me. Within minutes some wolf down their food then look at my plate and ask if I've even started! I am actually very self-conscious about how long I take to eat but cannot change and certainly do not want to, I just wish everyone else would slow down to my pace!
I did find the book excellent, I myself couldn't believe it worked! I dip into it every now and then, wish it was on Kindle but it may well be soon, I hope. I also carry a photo of 'big' me in my purse which I look at when shopping for naughty foods!
My OH eats early and quickly which means by the evening he is hungry again for snack foods or picks at anything in the fridge and then wonders why he is large.
Another good book is 'Picture Perfect Weight Loss' (the one with the red cover) that shows a picture of, for example, steak and chips and that for the same calories what you could have - starter, main course, desert and wine!

Hope it works for you eth. and Hammerman. I eat really slowly anyway. Nowadays, I eat at snails pace!! I can't eat quickly even if I try!!! In my last job their was a super free restaurant and all my colleagues used to trot off at lunchtime and eat and three course meal and then retire to the coffee lounge afterwards. I ended up having a bagette (free as well) which was delivered to our office and that took me the same time to eat as they spent in the canteen and coffee lounge!! I feel I missed out on lots of free nosh!!!
11 months on I would love to hear what you guys say about this after trying it - would you mind updating me?
