is there a dentist in leicestershire clean and polish your teeth while doing check up?

Does anyone know any dentist in East Midlands (near Leicester Hinckley area) that clean and polish your teeth while doing check up? My dentist always did that when I lived up north. Now I moved to Midlands, when my dentist in Leicester does check up, he just have a look at my teeth, not doing anything, charge £17 for 30 seconds of his time, if I want my teeth cleaned, I have to book for an hygienist separately, obviously pay more, about £30 and they usually use a horrible hook instead of water jet. I really don't understand this. If anyone know any good dentist near this area will be great, thanks!!!

best thing is to buy a waterpick, comes with several heads and does a great job. About £30/£35. Got mine from the dentist and it replaces flossing and using interdent brushes and it has a plaque head as well.

Eddie either isn't using an NHS dentist or he's being ripped off. The £16.50 'Band 1' charge INCLUDES any scaling/polishing which is found to be necessary by the initial examination:

Look through the lists for dentists currently accepting new NHS patients. (I've just searched on 'Hinckley' and had no problems finding suitable practices).

This is pretty normal these days, except I told my dentist that I wasn't going to see the hygienist and her snotty attitude, I wanted him to do the clean and polish. You can't get an NHS dentist for love or money round here, the C&P costs me £40.

Check out my second link above. The NHS around here (and in other parts of the country I've travelled to recently) have big poster campaigns telling people that, unlike a few years ago, there are plenty of dentists who are now accepting new NHS patients. You might find that the situation has changed recently in your own area.

I have to say that although it costs me, my teeth are probably in better nick now than at any other time in my life. It's always been a process I've hated - I really wouldn't like to be a dentist, nobody likes them.

They are meant to clean / polish your teeth for you as it is part of their NHS contract but most now refuse it seems to me - partially I believe this is because of the extra money the practise can make from the hygienist and secondly because some dentists seem to think that that cleaning etc is now below them.

no, nothing round here Chris - we had a new clinic open up due to a shortage, and they're not taking on at the moment, they're full.
